Live the Pain presents a revolutionary approach to chronic pain based on cutting-edge research in the fields of trauma and mental health. Our psychoeducational treatment groups empower people who are living with chronic pain with effective psychological treatment, emotional support, and life-changing tools. The group facilitator plays a crucial role in giving over new material, guiding group discussions, leading activities and exercises, creating a safe and supportive group dynamic, and providing individual support where necessary. Throughout this course, mental health professionals will gain the information, tools, and resources they need to effectively facilitate Live the Pain treatment groups and expand their professional expertise moving forward. 

  • Learn how and why trauma-informed therapeutic approaches are being applied to the field of chronic pain.
  • Deepen your understanding of the bidirectional relationship between chronic pain and mental health.
  • Gain the pedagogical and clinical skills to effectively run Live the Pain group therapy sessions.
  • Study the course curriculum, including the format, psychoeducational material, processing exercises, group discussions, and homework assignments for each session
  • Licensed psychologist or social worker
  • Minimum of Masters degree  
  • Min. 4-5 years experience doing clinical work
  • Experience with group dynamics 
    • Training in group therapy
    • Running at least 2 groups under supervision
  • Professional background in Trauma:
    • Exposure to trauma training 
    • Trauma treatment experience
  • Skills
    • Ability to hold and handle a group
    • Sensitivity to the issue the group is dealing with 
    • Open to program evaluation and research
