Tel Aviv 104: GROUP FOR WOMEN WITH CHRONIC PAIN

Do you ever feel like no one understands you? Does it sometimes feel like your pain is taking over every aspect of your life and identity? You are not alone. Take this opportunity to connect to yourself, your body, and people who get it. Get the skills and support you need to live the life you deserve.

While the physical component of the chronic pain experience can be completely all-encompassing, living with chronic pain is about so much more than physical pain. It can strain your personal relationships, determine your professional ambitions, and even define your personal identity. On top of all that, navigating the medical system, undergoing violating treatments, and facing the doubt and denial of loved ones and medical professionals can be completely traumatizing. Combined, these factors can have a significant impact on your overall mental health and emotional wellbeing.

However, pain doesn’t have to mean suffering. With the right tools, people living with chronic pain can live fulfilling lives, aligned with their physical and emotional needs. Based on a trauma-informed approach and guided by expert therapists, Live the Pain’s unique therapeutic process empowers people impacted by chronic pain with effective psychological treatment, emotional support, and practical, applicable tools.

  • Connect more deeply to your physical and emotional experiences.
  • Discover personalized healing strategies that you can take with you for life.

  • What is a therapy group? In Live the Pain’s psychoeducational treatment group, an intimate group of people living with chronic pain gather once a week to participate in a transformative therapeutic process in a safe and supportive environment. Participants gain new perspectives on the chronic pain experience from expert mental health professionals, identify and process their struggles, and practice tools to improve their mental and physical health and personal relationships.

What will I gain from a Live the Pain Group?

    • The safety, support, and validation of participating in a group process with other people who understand your experiences.
    • The knowledge, experience, and insights of mental health professionals who specialize in chronic pain and trauma.
    • Guidance and tools to process your pain-related struggles, emotions, and traumas.
    • Practical ways to improve your mental and physical health and personal relationships.

What makes Live the Pain’s therapeutic approach different than others?

    • Live the Pain addresses the physical and mental health aspects of the chronic pain experience simultaneously, based on an understanding of the degree to which they impact one another.
    • Live the Pain employs a unique trauma-informed approach, due to the often-ignored traumatizing aspects of the chronic pain experience, including the physical pain itself, violating medical treatments and interactions, doubt and denial from loved ones and medical professionals regarding the existence or severity of pain, and more.
    • Live the Pain is built by trained professionals who are experts in their fields and also live with chronic pain. They will not promise false, magic solutions, but rather guide you in finding your own, based on a belief that you are the expert on your own life.

    Will my privacy be protected?

Your safety and privacy are important to us. Other than the group facilitators, administrators, and other participants, your participation in the group is completely private. Your photographs, testimonials, personal stories, or information will not be shared with any outside party without your consent.

    What is psychoeducation?

Psychoeducation is an evidence-based therapeutic model that empowers patients and their family members with the information and support they need to better understand and cope with physical and mental illness, including communication skills, problem-solving techniques, and educational resources. Whether conducted in a one-on-one or group setting, psychoeducation must take place in a safe and supportive environment.

Do all participants have the same physical conditions?

No, however, all live with chronic pain and/or illness. Regardless of the details or diagnosis behind each participant’s condition, participants will find common ground when exploring different aspects of the chronic pain experience together. The group is a safe and supportive environment, free of judgment and comparison.
